Edenton

Edenton was established in 1712 as “the Towne on Queen Anne’s Creek”. It was the second capital of North Carolina from 1722 to 1743, with the Governor establishing his residence there and the population increasing during that period. It was the location of The Edenton Tea Party, the first known political action by women in the British American colonies.

Beaufort

Established in 1713 and incorporated in 1723, the village of Beaufort, NC  is the fourth oldest town in North Carolina. Beaufort is a charming Outer Banks village with a lovely downtown scene lined with shops and restaurants and nearby attractions such as Fort Macon, Atlantic Beach, Morehead City and the Shacklefort Banks, home the the Shacklefort Ponies.

Wilmington and The USS North Carolina

The city of Wilmington, North Carolina’s largest coastal town, is located at the mouth of the Cape Fear River and is the home of the USS North Carolina Battleship  Museum. Touring a Battleship is an awe inspiring venture. Enjoy the photos. They are very impressive Full Screen.

Oriental

The village of Oriental, North Carolina, is known as the

“Sailing Capital Of North Carolina.”

The Oriental History Museum tells the story of the town’s founding and its role in the Civil War. The museum is located in the old train depot and is open year-round. If you are looking for a relaxing and charming small town to visit on the North Carolina coast, then Oriental is a great option.

Southport

Southport is located on the Southeastern North Carolina coast where the Cape Fear and Elizabeth Rivers meet the Atlantic Ocean. Across the Elizabeth River/Intracoastal Waterway is Oak Island and the Oak Island Lighthouse and across the Cape Fear River is Bald Head Island, a very popular Tourist Destination which can only be reached by Ferry or boat.

Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge

The Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge is a 152,000-acre National Wildlife Refuge located in eastern North Carolina along the Atlantic Coast. It was established on March 14, 1984, to preserve and protect a unique wetland habitat type—the Pocosin—and its associated wildlife species. It is home for the reintroduction of the endangered Red Wolf and is known for its population of Black Bears and Alligators..
